What are your all time fav songs that have been released?
Personally I have 2 that are equally as good in my opinion.
1: The Clarion Call - Just simply amazing, it was the first song i ever heard of theirs, I listen to it almost like a religon.
2: Jack the Knife - Newest song I've heard and I fell in love with the guitar. Vocals are also amazing, but the intro riff is so f-ing sweet.
-
1. A Quest For The Crown
2. The Past Still Lives On
-
This is really tough.
1. Lord of the Blacksmiths
2. The Sceptre of Deception
3. The Clarion Call
4. Humanity Overdose
5. No Tears for Strangers
I'm feeling like I have to apologize to many songs that didn't get picked, especially from the first album, but if I was stranded on an island with only five Falconer songs, I would go for these five.
Birdhead has spoken
-
Gosh. Really hard one.
I would say Wings Of Serenity. I love the speed, the lyrics and everything about it more than most other songs made by any band or artist.
-
Probably
1. Lord of the blacksmitch
2. Emotional Skies
3. Stand In Veneration
4. Hear Me Pray
5, Substitutinal World
Keep the good work up :)
[/b]
-
Hm, live i would say.
1. Quest for the crown.
2. Clarion call
On record there would be:
1. Clarion call
2. Decadence of dignity
3. Mindtraveller
-
thats, well, what a hard question!! ill list some that kicked my ass the most the first time the album was played in my computer though.
Mindtraveller
Upon The Grave Of Guilt
Enter The Glade
The Clarion Call
Night Of Infamy
The Assailant
The Return
Child Of The Wild
-
I love all their songs, but I have to say that my all-time favorite is:
The Clarion Call
It's just...a masterpiece! And to hear Matthias sing the chorus a capella, it turns my spine to jelly. *sighhhhhhh*
-
It´s a hard one but I would say
1, Substitutional World
2. Lord of the blacksmiths
3. The Clarion Call
4. Portals of Light(just for Mathias Blads voice)
5. We sold our homestead
-
So far it seems the everybody loves the Clarion Call..... I knew I wasn't the only one haha :P
-
just cant bring myself to choose just 2! my favourite song of theirs changes a lot, as it changes with my mood,
but.....
from Chapters
1)Clarion Call
2)Enter the Glade
from Falconer
1)Heresy In disguise
2)mindtraveller
from sceptre
1)Here Me Pray

2)Jack The Knife
-
its a toss up between 'a quest for the crown', 'lord of the blacksmiths', and 'jack the knife'.
i have a slight obsession with jack the ripper, so i naturally like jack knife.
-
Wtf, who can pick just ONE falconer song?
Top 5 songs:
[In no particular order]
1| The Lord of the Blacksmiths
2| Quest for the Crown
3| Decadence of Dignity
4| Stand in Veneration
5| The Past Still Lives On

2. A Quest for the Crown
3. We Sold Our Homesteads

you know man, thats an impossible qustion! listening to the cd's many times, you get new favorites, and you realise that every song got its own quality... nevertheless, there are some songs that are conspicuous, clarion call, lord of the blacksmith, wings of serenity (love the lyrics!), royal galley, substitutional world, no tears for strangers, Night of Infamy and portals of light to name some.
but, there is always a but, their best song in my opinion(not necessarily my favorite) must be clarion call... the cocals are shrill and clear and every tone is sort'a floting along. this song represents the good old falconer, the flagship if you'd like. i'm having wet dreams about a music video, with a medivel village, and a falconer and an epic battle... uhu, never mind...
bottom line, eveything falconer gives us, is gold! and clarion call is one of their best!
-
Hard question, Falconer is one of the few bands where you can honestly say you love the whole album. Sceptre of Deception is the one album though that I can listen through 1000 times before I can turn it off, I love every single song off it and it holds many memories of me playing everquest 2 (riding across the landscapes upon my steed, slaying foes who stand in my way).
IF one day falconer (or record label) ever decides to release a "greatest hits" its going to have to be at least 4 albums long! But anyway here are my top 5 (no order).
Clarion Call
Royal Galley
the trail of flames
portals of light
ravenhair
-
nice list man!!
-
I agree, but personally, I'd have put Mindtraveller somewhere in there
-
yea, i'd rather have all the songs in there!!;)
-
Thats true, its hard to decide which song is best. Like for me you got feeling that you want to place every song on first place. But if i will need to decide.
1. The Clarion Call
2. Emotional Skies
3. Humanity Overdose
-
The Clarion Call
Nothing else needs to be said.
-
Oh god this is difficult...lol....If I only had to pick one song then this should have to be...
"Mindtraveller" since this was the first ever song I ever listened to from Falconer...
But then again if I really had to choose five....
-Mindtraveller
-Royal Galley
-The Clarion Calls
-The Scepter Of Deception
-Jack The knife....
But then again now I am able to listen to every Falconer song so.... :D
-
Enter The Glade
The Past Still Lives On
The Trail Of Flames
For Life And Liberty
-
It is blasphemy to make anyone choose just one favorite Falconer song, but as long as i am here, Clarion Call.
-
Just convert all the Falconer albums into one huge file and there you go, all your favorite songs is now your single favorite.
-
It's impossible to name only one.
Portals Of Light - an incredibly moving and beautiful track, it's brought tears to my eyes in the past.
Lord of the Blacksmiths
The Clarion Call
Enter The Glade
A Quest For The Crown
It's hard to limit it to just five and i've only heard the first two albums
-
For no really good reason I list my own 5-top
(songs from the new album is excluded of course)
1. Humanity Overdose
2. Clarion Call
3. Portals of light
4. Sceptre of deception
5. For life and liberty / Hear me pray / Heresy in disguise
Well, I jammed 7 songs into a 5-top.
-
LOL! Number 5 would make one hell of a medley, Stefan! ;)
My list change every week, or perhaps even every damn day. Probably mood related,
But today, I go for:
1. Substitutional World
2. Heresy In Disguise
3. The Past Still Lives On
4. Wings Of Serenity
5. For Life And Liberty
(6. Child Of Innocence)
-
Good to see you're not totally disatisfied with the Sceptre album, Stefan. Hear Me Pray and the title track are two of my favourites as well (that part in Hear Me Pray "OH wait with paradise!" is just killer).
-
Aaah, the part with the "start engine" vibrato in the end!!
Ha ha ha
-
"The Sceptre of Deception" is actually one of the very best Falconer songs - please promise me that you will never do a live show without this great song again - that was the one disappointment for me at the Giebelstadt gig.
Plus, I can't WAIT to hear Mathias sing that song!
-
#1. Lord of the blacksmith - first song i ever heard by them ( love that part where u can hear the clanks of the anvil in the background :)
#2. Clarion Call - simply the best song ever made
#3. Heresy in Disguise - i like the part where Mathias sings ... fortress of ligHHHTTTTTTTTT
#4. enter the glade - so super kewl :)
#5. trail of flames - cuz i like it
-
Now we're picking five favorites? Oh gosh...this will be hard...
1. The Clarion Call
2. Child of the Wild
3. Heresey in Disguise
4. Hear Me Pray (Radagast, I COMPLETELY agree with you!)
5. Lord of the Blacksmiths
and I LOVE En Kugens Man and Per Tyrssons Döttar I Vänge. Hooray for folk songs! Interesting story about the latter one: I played Per Tyrssons Döttar I Vänge for my older relatives who still speak Swedish reasonably fluently, and they were able to understand most of the song (Mostly the refrain.) Which I thought was pretty cool. :)
-
1. The Clarion Call (Well, I don't what else can be said that hasn't already been said!)
2. Purgatory Time (I just love this one, it rocks so hard, specially the chorus)
3. Jack the Knife (Just, simply, great. Truly awesome vocals.)
Ill stop my list there before I make a complete discography ;)
-
Hear Me Pray and the title track are two of my favourites as well (that part in Hear Me Pray "OH wait with paradise!" is just killer).
I'll second that.
-
I haven't yet heard all of their songs, but so far...
1. The Clarion Call - A masterpiece
2. Upon The grave of Guilt
3. Enter the Glade
4. Mindtraveller
5. Humanity Overdose
-
I'm sure I said it before in this topic, but c'mon.
THE CLARION CALL is number one.
-
Hmm.. I would really like to add some of the songs from northwind here, but I guess I 'll have to restrain myself for a while.. :P But at least I can tell you guys ('n girls ofcoarse) that the new album will rock the socks of you..
top 7 in no specific order: (only 5 is impossible to choose.. :P)
Enter the glade
Royal galley
Herasy in Disguise
Portals of light
Clarion call
Child of the wild
Substitutional world (mostly for the "The higher your luckystar rises..."-part)
+Child of innocence and Kungens man.. gah.. I couldn't limit it to 7 either....
-
Why don't people like the absolute masterpiece Under the Sword? Not even Stefan himself.
1. Under the Sword (much because I am extremely interested in history and study to become a historian and so recognized the content imediately without checking it out)
2. Mindtraveller (the first Falconer song I heard, it is so very ancient Norse)
3. We Sold our Homesteads (in the fathom of the Seeeeea)
4. Portals of Light (my favourite metal ballad)
5. The Sceptre of Deception (great, and long)
-

-
I would say:
Clarion Call
Portals of Light
Lament of a Minstrel
Wings of Serenity
A Quest for the Crown
-
Well, I'm entirely new to this band. Just had the pleasure of hearing them for the first time about a week or so ago. I couldn't tell you the name of the first song I heard... but I'm in love with this band none the less. I haven't been this excited about a band in eons. I've been blasting my apartment with Child of the Wild. But, I did just purchase 4 albums of Falconer's this morning... so I plan to have a better answer in a few days.

Great to hear, Spawnie! How did you get in touch with Falconer's music?

Well, I met a friend of a friend a week ago... The mutual friend had been telling this person about how big of a metal head I was... he asked if I'd ever heard of Falconer. I unfortunantly for me, didn't know them. So we busted out the iPods and I had the pleasure of hearing this band. It took me a week to figure out who they were again but asking people to ask this guy and then tell me. I got the name again finally on Thursday night... I've been rocking out for 2 days now and SO happy. I'm in love... hahaha
-
Yeah, I think most of us who love Falconer have pretty unique stories regarding the discovery of the greatest metal band in the world. They don't play their music on the radio too often, heh heh. I found out about their music as late as 2003 when me and some guys went to a Iron Maiden gig in Stockholm. Everyone in the car had "contributed" with 20 fave metal songs and we listened to them in random mode. Suddenly "We sold our homesteads" broke the silence and I was amazed. I remember that sensational feeling so well. Since then I've been happily stuck. I also remember my friend (who had kept his mouth shut about Falconer for two years) telling me that Falconer was from the town I lived in. I was very shocked by some reason.
-
That is so great.... My all time number one favorite band in the whole world is Iron Maiden. I can also say that its rare to hear THEM on the radio in the US let alone anything that sounds good at ALL. The guy who introduced me to Falconer is a big Maiden fan too... Crazy.
-
Yeah. In Sweden they play so called "hits" about 300 times a day. I've stopped listening to them. Even on the major ones. Nowadays I only listen to pandora.com and iTunes.
What about USA then? Do they just play stuff like P Diddy, Paris Hilton and "Neo metal" bands (silly cathegory, that one)?
-
Our radio stations are such a waste of time. I either am listening to a cd in the car or the handy dandy iPod/iTunes. "Metal" stations around here... atleast in the greater Detroit area, consist of Motley Crew, Poison, and Ted Nugent.... BLAH! I called up just for the crap of it one night and requested Slayer... they laughed at me... But most of the stations are the hip-hop Brittany bull crap.... So sad.
-
Argh. Well, Mötley Crüe is a great band, and Poison can be a nostalgic journey. But I know what you mean. There should be at least one metal radio channel in every country.
-
I can't dispart any song from first album! They are all great and samthing special for me,only in one piece!
Top 5 of the rest is
1.For Life And Liberty
2.The Clarion Call
3.The Trail Of Flames
4.Enter The Glade
5.Pledge For Freedom / Portals Of Light / I Refuse

Honestly, here in IL I'd rather have a metal station like that! The only metal station near me is in Springfield and all they play is nu-metal and metalcore crap. In fact, I don't get that station here at grad school anyway. Supposedly there are a couple metal stations in Chicago as well, but I'm told they play crap as well. And here in Carbondale (Southern IL) there are NO metal stations. Lots of emo/screamo ones, though. Blech
-
I used to live in Flint Michigan, and there was a station there that was not too bad. Called The Banana 101.5FM, Then I moved here to The Detroit area and I have the "nestalgic" WRIF 101.1FM, which is the one I spoke of... LOTS of 80's hairband stuff... Then there is the Canadian station 88.7 known as 89X... lots of NuMetal.... Like Blink 182 and stuff like that... not really my cuppa tea. I was just telling a friend yesterday... if there was a HARD CORE metal staion.... it would be my saving grace. lol
Well, I'll be staring at the mailbox for the next few days now... my CDs should be here within the next day or so... then I'll have a valad post for this thread. CAN NOT WAIT!!! I'm going to drive my friends.... and my neighbors, LOL, CRAZY with Falconer!!! *gives horns*
-
Okay!!! YEAH! Got my first of four CDs Yesterday!!! I recieved Chapters from a Vale Forlorn. I've listened to the whole cd 3 times so far and I have to say that so far my faves are:
Enter the Glade and The Clarion Call
I have been driving my neighbors and people on the roads crazy. LOL
Okay, I'll be keeping an eye out for my other 3 cds and get back with you.
-
My library is growing in a GREAT way!!!
Just got The Sceptre of Deception and Grime vs. Grandeur
Only one left and I'll post for real in the thread.

Do you get 95.1 ? Out of Chicago I think, and theres another, 94.7 or maybe 94.9, I dunno, that my dad listens to that OCCAISIONALLY has something worth listening to on. I believe that ones also ouf of Chicago.
-
No, I live four hours away from Chicago. Those call numbers don't work where I live.
ESPECIALLY not where I got to school. That's at the opposite end of the state.
-
You think you have it bad, try living in eastern Canada. Here, there are two types of radio station (very)oldies rock, and rap/pop. If it wasn't for the internet (mostly epic rock radio) I would not listen to radio at all.
-
