I have noticed a lot of us are studying or in school, so naturally, what are we all studying? What are you working towards, what degree, what area of study?
I am working on my matser's degree in Nursing, Psychiatric/Mental health track. By the time I am done I will be able to sit for the Nurse Practitioner's exam which will give me prescriptive rights. (Anyone need anything?!?!?! hahaha  )
-
Yeah ! Send me some tranquilizers to calm down after all that R&B and gansta RAP they keep playing on the radio nowadays...
As for your question : I would love to pick up languages again some day...
Swedish ? Finnish ?
And I think I'd better start learning from my daughters studybooks to keep track with this changing society...
-
English, mediaeval history and philosophy.
Currently, I'm writing my MA thesis on 'Polari'.
Greetz,
Tex
-
Psychology, emphasis on child therapy.
If I had discovered a love for Philosophy sooner, I'd have gone after a Philosophy minor, but alas! I discovered the awesomeness that is philosophy all too late. :(

You mean the language? There was a guy at my High School from England who used to annoy the teachers by speaking it. It isn't spoken anymore is it?
-
I've study Archeology.

That awesomeness will always be there, I have come to really enjoy philosophy a lot after undergrad. Good luck with child therapy, I have never dabbled in that area. I had thought that I wanted to go into pediatrics but I found my calling elsewhere........

I'm talking of the language.
The question whether it is spoken nowadays is a tricky one. When can we count a language as being dead?
Actually, some Polari is still used in certain circumstances.

Hm, I'm not really studying anything at all. I'm back at school on the way to my A-levels.
What I plan to study: Political Science with the long-time goals of - in this order - either lecturer or journalism or research.

Ah, that explains a coupple of things ;) .
At school I'd study to be a cabinet maker, and today I work as one (allmoast). At my work I make windows, tables, doors et cetera....
-
Hmmh... We have a quite different schoolsystem here than in America. So.. Well, I'm now in "Adult High School". But it ain't exactly what you would call a high school in America.
I study many many many subjects, but my priority is languages. At the moment I'm studying english, swedish, spain and german. Gonna start france next year. And when I'm finished with high school, I'm going to university. Languages. And history. And mathematics. I want it all :)
-

Yes, working with severely mentally ill people 40+ hours a week does have an effect on an individual, or do I just really fit in.....    :P

WoW! I love a man who's good with his hands!
Seriously though, around these parts it is hard to find a good craftsman these days. It is truly an art!

That's because blue-collar work doesn't pay too much, and the jobs that DO tend to be dangerous. So alot of people get their diplomas so they can get what they hope is a high-paying job. Also, the call for people who actually make t hings with their hands has lessened with those crazy, technological innovations. Many things are becoming a lost art, thanks to technology.

!
Hehehehehe...
Well I can open a bottle of beer in a split second but that is not what you meant right ?
:D
-
Information Technology or Computer Science, dunno how you call it at your places, doesn't matter anyway. ;)
Heading straight for the diploma next year (if I can find and work out a good topic soon). Thought about going on towards the Master, mainly because it has to be SO COOL to have cards with printed "Master of Science" on 'em! ;) But I will probably not have the time/patience to do so.
-
"ODIN, Alfather, Master of the Boards, Bleeding for Metal" is way cooler than "Master of Science" IMHO!!!
Metal RN already has his job picked out when he retires from nursing....He wants to be an I.T. professional. Computers. He is looking forward to working with clients (inanimate objects) that don't talk back! (or try to kill him when they are having a bad day!)
-
Hahaha, well, Metal RN will have to choose his job wisely then. I work in service and consulting and have to cope with a lot of talking back clients... ;)

And some of them appear to be willing to consider murder when things don't go the way they'd like to have them as I had to experience earlier this week.
-
True, true.
-
Well I guess that I am back to plan B for retirement........... Senior citizen male gigilo!!! Metalmaiden has already joked about pimping me out at the nursing home!!!! 8)

@Metalmaiden: I'm very handy. (http://www.infernalvengeance.com/KarlBeckman/images/fula%20gubben.gif) :wink:
Well, I get enough money from my job, and it's only dangerous if you're not carreful.

Dude !
I am desperate for someone building me a shelter for the chickens !
Could you help me out on this one ?
Food and drinks and LOTS of metal are on the house !!

Well, in English it would be something like Trainee as an Information Technology Specialist , Application development

You'd better have said in Chinese, there might have been a chance I would have understood it better...

You have to understand that I am 15 years older than Metal RN so when I'm ready for the "nursing home" he'll still be considered the "young stud". I could probably make quite a tidy profit pimping him ourt!

Hey, completely agreed! A woman I would seriously consider having a relationship with definitely has to be smart. What scares me is that for some people - obviously including you ;) - "smart" appears to be equal to "gifted in maths". Well, I'm a black hole in maths - you can put in what ever you want, it all just disappears ;) - yet I'm a smart person (I had it tested ;) ).
Therefore, I of course respect both, male and female with talents in maths, but nevertheless it always feels a bit strange for me...
-

It makes it so much more interesting!!!!!

Completely agreed again. How to spend hours with a person who does not have anything left to surprise you, anything new to discuss with you, anything new to teach you, anything exciting to talk about or a person who's just not able to understand what you're trying to tell?
Most aren't willing to believe, but intelligence does matter.
-
Oops for a moment I read : 'size' does matter ...
My mistake !

Hm, if it wasn't for estimated 1500+ km, I'd be coming over with a few of them :D

Pick your favourite answer:
;)
a) Stick to women, men are swine anyway.
b) All taken, apparently.

Tex

Which would get us back to my earlier posted comment that there's a basic idea of men: The good one's are taken, the other's are full of certain excrements...
A small world it is we're posting in.

I would agree with half of your one but last sentence...

So you don't need to be afraid of me, I am not very gifted in Maths truth be told, but I try my very best. I usually am a bit slower until I understand it
-
Hmh.. Well, guess I have to accept your explanations ;)
Tex, wanna lend me yours? ;)
