Lone gone by - Almost brings tears in my eyes when I listen to it. The only Slow ballad on the album. A masterpiece! My only problems was it ended so quickly and the electric guitar sorta didn't fit the song.
Spirit of the Hawk - Another favorite "feel your blood pumping and then speed away" really gives me an adrenaline rush.
Hell, they are all good.. I quit
-
I haven't heard it yet. I'm going to try and buy it when its released on Friday.
-
By far the best track on the album has to be catch the shadows. I love this song. Well done falconer.
-
Blinded is my favourite track at the moment. Long Gone By is beautiful :)
-
all the tracks are GREAT :D
-
So far I think "Catch the shadows", "Tower of the queen" and "Himmel så trind" are my favorites...followed by "Blinded" and "Long Gone by". Allthough ALL tracks are great.
The only one I have some problem with is Fairyland Fanfare... Maybe I'll learn to love it when I've hear it some more...
-
I have also had some problems with "Fairyland Fanfare", but it's growing.
It's real hard to name a favourite on this album, because they are all like Knox said: GREAT.
-
The great thing about Northwind is that *all* the songs grow on you the more you listen to them - just like the first three albums.
They all have something special and unique to them, and that is how you create an album which will endure for ages - well done!
-
After having listened to it for a while I'd say that I rank the songs this way:
Himmel Så Trind
Perjury and Sanctity
Waltz with the Dead
Legend and the Lore
Catch the Shadows
Home of the Knave
Tower of the Queen
Northwind
Spirit of the Hawk
Long Gone By
Fairyland Fanfare
Delusion
Blinded
Black Tarn
-
I think both Delusion and Blinded are far better than that...
I have tried to rank them but it change from day to day...
All are great tracks, but Catch the Shadows is probably the best, even one of the best Falconer songs ever, and Fairyland fanfare, is probably the elast great of them...
Black Tarn...well...it IS a filler after all...;)
-
Did you know we actually changed the name the last week to "Black tarn" from................."Filler".

Hahaha, on your next album you should just name every song: Filler #1, Filler #2, Hit Single, Filler #3, etc. just for kicks. As all of Falconer material is great, but it would still be funny to see the record producers reaction.
-

Yeah, I read some interview with you, and you said that you thought of naming it Filler... :D
-
@Stefan: But my favourite is "Folktjofräs". Couldn't you guys have kept that name!? ;)

Exactly. I was so stunned by this answer, because I didn't even know how the hell I had come to the question "do you think there are any fillers on this album?" :lol2:

Quit trying to score! She's mine ;)
-
Seems like "Himmel så trind" became a bigger favourite than I thought it would.
I´m glad though.

You really are quite a nutter. ;)

It is one of the best tracks on the new album and it fits right in there with Kungens Man and Per Tyrssons Döttrar i Vänge.

I study it by myself.
The first impulse was Falconer's "Per Tyrssons Döttrar i Vänge".
I was so enchanted by that, so I bought my first Swedish-Russian dictionary and translated it.
It was pretty hard cause there were some older verb forms but I have done it finally 8)

There's no song that I don't like on this one, but the ones I totally love are
Catch the Shadows
Long Gone by
Northwind
Waltz with the Dead
It's the best Falconer album. So far.
-
My top five songs from Northwind are;
1. Perjury and Sanctity (best Falconer song ever... I guess. hard to say)
2. Delusion
3. Spirit of the Hawk
4. Catch the Shadows
5. Tower of the Queen
-
Well, if I make my TOP 5, it will look like that
1. Himmel så trind
Very very pleasant ballad .
The bonus is because of authentical Swedish lyrics .
The mood is very romantic as well.
2. Fairyland fanfare
Super melodic!
And my bonus for the lingustical and fonetical game of sounds in here!
Leave the languish,
leave lanterns of lorn.
Lend lacking lustre to lies.
Liberate the laces
of life for the lone
lest lament yet alights.
3. Waltz of the dead
Just such enchanted lyrics!
4. Legend of the lore
Because of the introduction and of the general mood
5. Nortwind
For Mathias' sexy voice and for the general Northern mood 8)
-
1. Spirit of the Hawk
2. Perjury and Sanctity
3. Blinded
4. Catch the Shadows
-
1. Perjury and Sanctity
2. Himmel så Trind
3. Long gone by (were it only twice as long...)
4. Tower of the Queen

With bonustracks:

2. Himmel så Trind
3. Long gone by (were it only twice as long...)
4. Tower of the Queen
5. Kristallen den Fina (I've always liked this song, one of the most visited pages in my songbook)
Cheers!

That is so correct, my dear Minstrel. I don't know what state my mind was in when I forgot about that song.
The list should be:
1. Perjury and sanctity
2. Himmel så trind
3. Home of the knave
4. Northwind
5. Long gone by
As I said before, the fave songs change from day to day, but I've decided that Perjury and Himmel must be on the absolut top-two-list.
-
I don't know what state my mind was in when I forgot about that song.
Yes, you are quite the nutter

-
Honestly, I think the album is absolutely fantastic. One of my all-time favorites, but I can't stand Fairyland Fanfare. I have really tried to like it but it is right there at the top five WORST Falconer songs... Along with Power and Hooves over Northland.
-
 I see what you mean with Power, I understand your criticism for Fairyland Fanfare partially, but Hooves over Northland? It smacks my face in every time, IT IS GREAT damn it!
