So, what song sparked your addiction, and how did you come across said song?

I was at a friends house one night and he sat me next to a guy named Mike. All he said was "Here she is Mike." He imediatly started battling it out with me. LotR trivia, Zelda trivia, and Iron Maiden trivia (I was winning*lol*) So after he deemed I was "good enough" we started talking. From Iron Maiden we started talking about other bands. So we randomly started spouting off different bands "Sentenced" "Opeth" Manowar" ect. Then I came to "Nightwish" he said... "Nope... Okay Falconer" I said, "Oh, you got me there" His eyes LIT up and he said "OH MAN! You haven't LIVED!" I giggled as he frantically scrolled through his iPod. He shoved the earbuds in my ears and I was taken on an INCREDABLE journey into the world of Falconer.

He did tell me the name of the song, but with all the info we had traded in the past two hours still buzzing in my head, I forgot the name of the song. I haven't seen or spoken to that guy since, and It took me 2 weeks into having all the Falconer albums (which I bought them all in a matter of days LOL) That I re-discovered my poison.

Honestly, I don't remember!

I do know it was something off the s/t album, because a friend of mine had the whole thing on his computer and sent it to me.  I immediately bought as much Falconer as was available at the time after hearing the music. :)

My first Falconer song was Mindtraveller. That was really a day that changed my life. I hadn't even listened to any Metal before. I was at a friend's house and we were listening to the magazine cd from the latest Metal Hammer. Mindtraveller was on it and it just blew me away. I insisted we listen to it over and over again... and well I ended up buying all the albums and becoming their No 1 fan.

During the mid-late 90s I used to post on a black / death metal board called "Beyond Death". It was one of those forums that still used Matt's WWWBoard script. It was there that I first heard about Mithotyn splitting up; it was bad news, but upon visiting the band's site I recall reading that Weinerhall was going to continue making music, although closer to the more traditional side of metal, the band was going to be called Blacksmith.

Time went by, and after a long wait, a guy who went by the name of Dagon posted a message on "Beyond Death", saying that there was a Falconer (ex-Mithotyn) song posted online, so I downloaded it, it was the demo version of "Mindtraveller", and I really liked it a lot (this was around mid-late 2000, if I recall correctly). After that it was just a matter of time to wait for the album to be released, but I kept listening to the song and thinking "this band has got *it*", if you know what I mean.

My first Falconer song is The Clarion Call. I had found the song 1 day before the University Entrance Exam and it played in my brain for 3 hours during the exam (: .

Conclusion: stay away from falconer b4 taking exams :p

On the contrary - I was listening to Falconer 24/7 like a madman the entire week when I was studying super hard for my graduation exams - with enormous success! The music really lifted up my spirit during the arduous learning process.

My first Falconer song was "Upon the Grave of Guilt." I realised they were the band for me at the "in the sacred corridors,/evil is set free/lurking among the shadows of the monastery" part of Heresy in Disguise. :D

It was in June 2003. Me and two other loonies sat in a car on our way to the Iron Maiden gig on Stockholm Stadion, and we had chosen 20 favourite metal tracks each which we played randomly. There were a lot of classics and we sang along in a joyful manner as these moments in life craves. Suddenly, "We sold our homesteads" appeared and hit me like a sledgehammer.
A week or so after this, I heard the two first albums and that was a kind of a turning point in my music taste, to say the least.

It was back in the end of 2002.
I remember reading the signature of another member in an Ultima Online forum.
It said
"np 'Falconer - The Clarion Call'".

I didn't pay much attention to that at first. But that bandname and the title of that song somehow stuck to my memory.

Some days later I was looking for some new metal stuff - I was kinda new to power metal at that point - and I remembered Falconer.

Well from the moment I heard Clarion Call and the rest of the second and the first album, I was totally awestruck.

That's how I became a Falconite :)

I probably heard of Falconer for the first time in another band's official forum, I am not sure about which band though. Then I checked them out on Metal Archives and when I read the reviews there I felt that I had to hear the music. So I downloaded  the demo-version of Mindtraveller and first I thought that it had some interesting parts and a medieval feeling, but not so much more. At that time the metal bands I was listening to were few compared to today (mainly Hammerfall and Luca Turilli and a couple of songs from famous bands). But as I listened to Mindtraveller a few more times I was convinced and I started to love it. Therefore I have a special relationship to the demo version of the song, even though I find the album version better.

Well, my ex Girlfriend played "En Kungen Man" for me, an old swedish tune she and I often sang together back in the days when we where dating. Well, her new boyfriend had tought her to listen to Falconer, so she thought I must be enlightened to. I must admit i turned the song off after only a 20 seconds or so, and told it was some cheezy crap she listened to. :) She got somewhat pissed at me and for a nearly a half year we didn't speak of it anymore.

Well, a at a party where she and her new boyfriend was, as well as I, about 6 month later we got to talk about it again. She claimed I hadn't given falconer a chance, and when her boyfriend, also a friend of mine, heard that he told me to shut up and follow him to the stereo. He put on the Chapters abum and after a few tunes I was addicted as ever before. I regret even to this day that I did not listen past the first 20 seconds the first time I heard them.

Well, this was my Falconer story. :)

'The Clarion Call' was the first song I heard. I was looking for new music to listen to and came across it whilst randomly downloading songs. Really liked it so I listened to some of their other stuff, which I also loved. I couldn't stop listening to what I had so I brought their albums and they very quickly became my favourite band! :)

As for me it was on February 2003, if I am right.
Per Tyrssons Döttrar was the first song I have heard from Falconer.

It was  sad winter eve.
I and my ex-boyfriend were sitting and drinking whiskey.
We didn't know at all what to do with our relationships and how to fix them.

Then he turned on the music - just shuffle - and the first song was the Falconer's one.
After the break I started listening to Falconer and it really took me away of my depression.

Mathias has magnificent voice. Melancholy fades away  8)

My first song was actually Decadence of Dignity and it was recommended to me by a fellow metal listener. He was showing me some medieval sounding groups such as demons and wizards, blind guardian, and falconer. Once I heard falconer I got completely hooked. Now they are my favorite band along with Sonata Arctica.

On a side note I find that MANY falconer fans are also Sonata Arctica fans. I find this odd because the bands, musically, do not have much in common. The vocals are polar opposites with tony having a very high pitched voice and instrumentally there really are not that many similarities. Kamelot usually falls in this group as well. Anyone have any ideas as to why?

My 2 favorites are easily sonata arctica and falconer with kamelot holding a steady third place.

I am new here, and thought it would be fitting if my first post was to tell you about my first Falconer-song!

A couple or more years ago, me and two other guys that used to work together (swedish parliament security department, plenty of headbangers there!) got together to listen to metal. We were thinking of making it a tradition, partly to escape our wives/girlfriends and children once in a while. Micke, the guy who hosted our first "metal meet", started off by playing some Falconer-songs off the first album. I was totally blown away by "Mindtraveller" and "Per Tyrssons...", and have been hooked on Falconer ever since. I feel fortunate to live in Sweden where I have been able to buy the CD´s without any problems or delays. And I can´t wait to go to Sweden Rock in June!!!

Well, i started with the Falconer album directly. What helped was that i was playing a MMORPG at the time. And, not surprisingly, each of the songs blended perfectly with the fantasy world of a MMORPG.A long term fantasy fan that i am, i was instantly hooked to Falconer. Now, I dont play MMORPG anymore but Falconer still has me as a fan.

And, being one of the very very  very very few fans of falconer in India, I haven't met anyone else personally who has even heard of the name :(

Hi all!

Well it had been somewhen in the middle of 2002 ...

I ll never know how it found it's way to my Computer - neither me nor my friends listened to Metal - but it was just there somehow.
The track Lord of the blacksmiths.

As I always was a fantasy fan it found it's way to my heart immediatley.

But it stood there alone - I never heard or found something about Falconer. I was bout 19 and had no www by then ...

After and After I listened more and more Metal. Hammerfall , Manowar , Lordi and also Nightwish tracked me and became familiar to me and by time I got Internet and played DAoC online and so on.
And always there was this track. In every playlist. I guess I got somehow used to it as a hammer great song of which I ll never know more - and never reflected it.

Must have been over a year later that I once agian searched for more ... and found upon the grave of guilt, Entering Eternity and The past still lives on.
Especially motivated by the last but definatley also by all 4 songs I had a quest in the stores for the CD ... and found it finally. Them.
DonT know why I didnT simply search on the www. Today I would.

And since then I really need everything I can get of my favorite music!

Conclusion: stay away from falconer b4 taking exams :p

Good advice but difficult.
I ve got some tests in 2 weeks.
I didnT listen to Clarion Call for bout 2 weeks.
I still donT get it off my head and probably never will ....
I hope so at least

I was introduced to Falconer a couple of years ago by my ex boyfriend, he lived in another country so we used to talk and share stuff over the internet to begin, before we met in real life. he used to send me one song from each of the bands he thought I might like. most of the stuff I didnt like that much, but then he sent me Mindtraveller from Falconer and I LOVED it, so I immediately ordered the album and have every album now. Its quite difficult to get hold of the CDs here, but the internet is a great invention :D

Took me a while to come across Falconer. I live in the UK and struggle to find decent music; or at least decent new metal groups. I am heavily reliant on the internet to find new groups and to purchase their music. Things like MetalHammer's "Battle Metal" CD series are of great use – has Falconer appeared on any of these yet? The other way is that I go to Wiki and look at the lists that other bands that I like appear in and then listening to few tracks using myspace/youtube – I really am not going to find music I like in normal music shops in the UK, so I have to "research" my music and play.com is my friend

I found Falconer by looking at 'folk metal' groups – I went through each one, visiting their myspace site and/or other fan sites. What interested me about Falconer was that they were described something like as having been a black/viking metal band that then went out of their way to get a good singer (which I know now was referring to Mithotyn). I like melodic groups like Kamelot, Blind Guardian and I also love the speed/heavy riffs/guitars of groups like Children of Bodom, Svartsot, Ensiferum and Thryfing, but not the singing, so to find a band that could combine the two was like manna from heaven. Went to the myspace site, listened to about ten seconds of "Clarion Call"; and immediately thought "Yes!".   :bangersmiley:

Some groups grow on you; others you just know straightaway.

Thank god for the internet eh?

I wasn't listening very hard, but I do remember dropping everything about 30 seconds into The Clarion Call and saying, "okay, THIS one I'm listening to intently."

The rest sort of followed. :p

Upon The Grave of Guilt.

A friend of mine who is also into power metal said they were his favorite band, so I looked up the first song on their first album (they only had 2 or 3 at the time) and started listening. At first I thought, hey, this is cool. Then the vocals came on and I think I said out loud "what the f---", but in a good way. It was a style of singing that was unlike anything I've heard in metal before. It threw me off so much, I stopped listening for a while. Then I decided to give them another shot and they have been my favorite band ever since.

Well, lets see...
The very first Falconer song I heard was the Grime vs Grandeur "Emotional Skies", and that was about 3 years ago. I was checking my uncle's old Hit Parader, Kerrang! and Rock Hard magazines that I borrowed from him, and I came across with an edition of Rock Hard where Ozzy featured in the cover, from the year 2001. I was reading the CD Reviews section, and among other bands I saw the all mighty cover of Falconer first album, Falconer... Immediately I "fell in love" with the picture of the mysterious man holding the falcon, I didn't need even to read the review to decide to listen to that band.
I live in Mexico, and in case you didn't know, buying or getting albums of european metal bands is HARD as the fucking HELL for the mexican metal maniacs, so after a long, exhaustive search I found that only song in a website. I listened to it and, well, I liked it but something inside me told me that maybe that wasn't a Falconer song, I mean, that powerful album cover couldn't have lazy songs like "Emotional Skies".
So, I surfed once more in the web, and found the official Falconer site, where I could check all the current band status and albums, and well, now I knew who Mathias and Kristoffer were, and then I grew determined to get all the band's albums.
It took me about two and a half years to get all the albums, some of them I got through a cousin that lives in the USA, some I made them sent to me shipped from France, where one aunt lives... Now I own the six band's cds, and I'm waiting for the seventh...
Costed me a almost all of my livesavings, but what the hell, it's Falconer...

And, as I guess for reading the other posts all the other Falconer fans, the thing that caught my attention to a point of stop doing what I was doing and listen very carefully, was Mathias voice... And well, that plus the combination of Jimmy guitarwork and Stefan lyrics, is just the perfect combination...

I agree wholeheartedly. Welcome to the Fellowship of Falconer!
It warms my heart everytime I read such enthusiastic words from a newbie. It reminds me how utterly blown away I was when I had just discovered Falconer, especially since I, too, bumped into my first Falconer song unexpectedly on a magazine CD. It was Mindtraveler, and boy, did my mind start wandering from there!
