I like heawy, my friends like heawy... we have no bears in our flats... However, we have a lot of our own heawy music. We are really fond of Falconer, Dream Evil, Iron Maiden etc. I'd like you to find something out of my message and pay attention on it. I hope my English is rather good, just give me a sign you've seen it!:)) :metal:

I'm really happy, that somebody understand me, but actually, russian people knows english grammar better than englishman :D :D .
Якоб: толще means "fat", but тоже means "too" :wink:
But don't be upset - my english is awful тоже.
Metal: Holy Dragons? I have no idea about them.
By the way, Russia also has great heavy- power- trash- metal.
Our greatest singer is Kipevov and his band "Ария" ("ARIA")? but, unfortunately, they doesn't work together nowadays. "Black obelisk"(Черный обелиск), "Epidemic"(Эпидемия), "Legion"(Легион) and "Master"(Мастер) are also great bands.

In my limited experience, the last group that I remember being totally Russian was frrom the 80's,
Shadow do you remember Gorky Park, I used to enjoy them, they had a really good singer, and pretty good muscians as well. They were more Hard rock, not metal though.

Russia (especially the former USSR) was often associated with "a bear".
Don't exactly know where this reference comes from actually. Maybe because of those huge Kodiak bears in Sibiria. As far as I know those are the biggest bears in the world.

I work as a head nurse in a psychiatric facility here in the US. The classification of nursing that I have is a Registered Nurse, RN for short. (Similar to MD for Medical Doctor). (Though when I am done with school, I could very well be the Metal CNS, APRN,NP!!! )The people I work with do know my penchant for awesome metal music so I have been dubbed the Metal RN by them, and I have been signing my e mails to certain coworkers as such so when it was mentioned that we choose new nicknames I used this one. Plus it is a little more ambiguous than Galahad, (though I keep that one at home )

Megadeth would have to be my alltime fav.... others at the moment are Unearth, Sonata Arctica, In Flames, Persuader (really new band), Children of Bodom, Yngwie,....the list goes on. I am also a big fan of a lot of 80's hair bands, being a guitar player, these bands had some of the most talented artists, if you could get past all the glamor that most of them had. I am sur t hat I will take some joking for this but ehhh, its what I like. :roll: I gues that is why I am draw to the more melodic and intricate power metal band s of today.

Nightwish, ERA, Enya, After forever, Elvenking, Apocaliptyca, Sonata arctica, Iron maiden, Blackmore's night, Blind guardian, Catharsis (it's russian band), Легион (Legion - it's our greatest band!!!), Алый рассвет (The Red Sunrise - They are similar with Iron maiden), Мельница(The Mill - it's russian folk-band which specializes on celtic folk), Beto vazquez Infinity, Falconer, Deep Purple, Helloween, Dream Evil, Children of Bodom....
and so on...and so on)))
Well, I also love books by Dj.R.R.Tolkien.And soon (after 5 years in University) I'll be a journalist.So don't be surprised by my questions.OK?

Euh... to be honest ... no man, never heard of this band... Only know 'Gorky Park' through a Scorpions song but that has nothing to with it I presume... :wink:

I am compelled to tell, that the Gorky Park does not exist any more and does not play heavy music. Their vocalist has left for pop-music, it's very regrettable. :cry:

Tastes differ.
But I like both of them))) :)
And I compare not like their vocalists look but their music)))

Good to hear from Russia!! My husband and I have a small record label for metal, punk and hardcore and have been dealing with a Russian punk band (Tarakany!) and their singer has pointed me in the direction of some Russian metal bands. There is some great metal coming out of Russia!

I had not spoken of Gorky Park till teh other day on this board for about 12 or so years, then yesterday a friend of mine comes up to me and out of the blue states "I picked up this Gorky Park cd at the fair the other day" How weird is that!!!!!
Shadow- I am thinking that you are familiar with one of their songs "Bang". You probably just did not know who it was. I will try to get you a listen!

My parents have visited Russia just before the Berlin wall came down.
Sint-Petersburg and Moskou !
They said Russia was a wonderful country but they have never seen so many drunk people in just one week...

Yeah, Kipelov is awesome. I have the video for Babylon, as well as the two disk live show he did. Good stuff. He's like the Russian Bruce Dickinson. I need to listen to more metal from the Motherland...

Their style is so similar to Falconer...
I even can suggest that they should be noted as a brotherbands, even twinbands.
try it:
"crusader" and "dancing in the fire" - from Imago album.
russian versions are Воин света and Танцуй в огне respectlevely.
