alright here's a thread that you ask a question, anything, the next person answers and they post a new question and so on.....if people enjoy this, it usually turns out to be quite fun.

Q: what was the first metal band/song you heard that got you hooked?
Titel: Question & Answer Thread
Beitrag von: dorian jane am Mai 30, 2005, 03:10:28 Nachmittag
Well, i'll do the start i guess..But it wasn't just one band
The first band that got me hooked to Rock music were The Doors/Riders on the storm
The first band that hooked me to Hard Rock music were Deep Purple/Smoke on the water
The first band that hooked me to Heavy Metal were Black Sabbath/Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
...And then came Motorhead.....

Oops! I forgot to ask a new question. So here it is:
What does Heavy Metal mean to you?
Titel: Question & Answer Thread
Beitrag von: AngelOfMusic am Mai 30, 2005, 05:05:21 Nachmittag
You know...I never really gave much thought into what metal means to me.  I'm sure some people have.  I'm relatively certain that almost anyone here could give a nice, lengthy answer as to what metal means to them.  But I guess I'm just not that cerebral about it.  I like it.  It sings through my blood like nothing else.  It's like it matches my life force, or answers to some deeper, more inexplicable part of me.  So honestly, I couldn't tell you what it means to me other than it helps to drive me along.  I like it.  Alot.

Which metal band/artist is likely to turn you into a gibbering pile of starstruck goo if/when you get to meet them?

I feel that I did pretty well when we met SonataArctica a few weeks back, but as for my wife
I would really love to meet Marty Freidman, ex Megadeth guitarist. (Although I do not feel that I would morph into a pile of goo)

What album/song put out by a band that you like has really disappointed you?

What album/song put out by a band that you like has really disappointed you?

Falconer's Busted to the Floor. The rest of the album is stellar, but that song...

Hm, question.

What album/song do you really like, but not many other people do?

Usually guitar, since whenever I try to "air vocallize" (aka lipsync) I always end up singing along. :)

You like the Last Unicorn???  WOW, I don't know many men (aside from gay men) that will admit to liking that movie!  You just moved up in my "awesome people" list.  ...okay, so I don't really have a list like that.  But if I DID, you would have moved up in it. :)

A:  Err...I have no idea.  Maybe someone else knows...

Patience is needed. The movie is to hit cinemas in Germany on August, 4th.
Perhaps certain movie magazines will know earlier.
If I'm supposed to guess... I could imagine that indeed. The FSK is likely not to open the movie for viewers under 18 anyway.

Here's to hoping.
I myself don't believe that.

It will most likely be an FSK 18 AND cut. Something that happens quite often over here.
But there is always Play.com.

@Angel of Musik & Tex

STOP! GUYS! I'M HERE TOO! ME TOO! LAST UNICORN ROCKS!

I remember when I saw that movie the VERY FIRST time on TV when I was about ten years old or eleven.
I was really deeply moved. It's beauty. It's dreams. It's tragedy. Another world.

I've watched the movie a couple of times since then. The impact never diminishes. It's as beautiful as years ago.

The music is just so.... like everyone knows it. People I hang out with, all are familiar with The Last Unicorn music (especially the title track!).
It's such an awesome combination of animation and music. Those two elements fit together.. no.. BELONG to each other, none would be perfect without the other.
Excellence!

As you can see, here's another guy who's been enchanted by that tale :) (@AngelofMusic: and I'm NOT GAY! ;) )

I'm planing on checking out the original novel and getting the original soundtrack on CD.

Oh and lest I forget, the animated movie from 1982 is becoming a live action movie. Due out 2006.
It's difficult material and they better be careful.

I'm still missing the DVD, though.

I was just about to suggest you boys read the novel.  They didn't deviate hardly at all when they turned it into a movie.  I was thrilled. :)

At least we won't have to hear Mia Farrow sing in the live action one (I hope!)  That was my only gripe with the music.  Mia Farrow is a good actress, but singing is NOT her strong point.  She'll be Molly Grue in the new movie.  Y AY! :)
