Hey Virva, maybe you can help me!  Or maybe one of the other Swedish speakers here wants to help a girl trying to be prepared in case she meets any of those unknown relatives?   :D

"Var så god"can be used in many situations, for example it is something you say when you give something or when you open the door for someone.
And it would be my greatest joy to give my advice Though I'm not a native Swedish speaker, but I've done my homework
Sometimes the language spoken by the natives (let's say fin[landswed]s, so no one can get pissed ) is terrible, considering the grammar side... then again, I must sound terribly stupid to every native :P

The one thing I learned to say when in Sweden was "I speak bad Swedish." The way were told how the first time made it sound like we were saying "I don't like Swedish." :roll:

and if annyone wants to be understood in scandinavia, you sholud learn norwegian, not sweedish or danish... the grammar is simpler, and if you speak that, chanses are you will make yourselfe bether understood in the other countries (exept finland perhaps) and likewise understand peoples from the other countries...

Well if you come to finland speaking norweigean, all the finlandssweds will understand but fins probably wont... but then again, lot of finns wont understand even if you speak swedish
