To get back to the real topic.........

I do not know as much about the Netherlands as I do some of the others:

What comes to mind is
Windmills
Wooden Shoes
Funny photo manipulators :wonder:
Dikes
Red Light District, I feel very drawn to there............., very curious.....
Tulips
Flemish art- Vermeer
Van Gogh museum, Rijksmuseum
Flat watery land
Hans christen Anderson, I think
Ice skating
Castle De Haar, Groeneveld Castle

If you're thinking of Hans Christian Andersen, famous writer of fairy tales and poems: He's from Denmark :)

Sadly all I think of  are  tulips, windmills, the little boy who stuck his finger in the dyke (although I hear this a actually an American myth not one from the Netherlands), wooden shoes, Dutch chocolate...........

For metal music the  awesome  Callenish Circle and Epica.

And last but not least........ The Hague; Capital of South Holland Government, Royal City  of the Netherlands and  home to  the International Court of Justice!

please shadowman will translate? yes please Shadow i am on my knees!  :P  it because its to difficult to write everyting in english.

Holland,

Thanks guys! and now up to tourism on..................?

Aarrgghhh ? Translate ? Why not type a few more pages then ?
Problem is how can I refuse when a woman is on her knees in front of me ?
Ok, so here we go :

"Holland,

In a way this is a really strange country with funny people.
Dutch people may be spontaneous but only up to a certain level, when we are in an elevator noone opens his mouth, when we are at the doctor's in the waiting room noone opens his mouth but when we are watching football and we have to support our football team we all scream : Go Holland, go !
When it is Queens day (note from Shadowman, I believe this is the birthday of the Queen Beatrix, not sure though) we all become crazy, we all dress up, the whole city of Amsterdam is upside down, everyone is dressed in orange, everybody's selling stuff on the street, you can hardly walk straight in the city because of the crowd, there is music everywhere, people act like madmen !

We have a special way of burrying our favorite artists, just recently when André Hazes, a well known crooner passed away well we just rented the whole stadium of Ajax and we let 50 000 people say goodbye, with his coffin in the middle of the field.

Now, a bit about weed, yes it is legal over here to use drugs, but only softdrugs.
Hardrugs are, just as everywhere else prohibited. The only thing to add is that they do not sell alcohol in the so called 'Coffee Shops'  because in combination with the weed this could eally be a hazardous thing. But people just buy it elsewhere and just take the two to a bar where you can smoke and drink at the same time.
There are also bars who follow their own rules and just buy the weed under the counter.

It is also true that Holland is 7 metres below sealevel ; about the what and who I really have no idea but I do know that this is the reason our country consists for a great deal of dunes and ditches.
Driving a car over here is totally no fun at all ! Gasoline costs a fortune, the roadtaxes as well en there are trafficjams everywhere. Only advantage of this is that the highways are nice and very straight but when you have nothing besides traffic jams this is of very little use of course.

Chocolate isn't Dutch, this is the Belgians heritage. We try to copy it but the nicest chocolate is made in Belgium (note from Shadowman : right on Mas !! )
But we do have the nicest cheese, this could hardly be otherwise since the Germans even call us cheeseheads ! But on the other hand, we again are jeaulous of the nice German "Bratwurst" !

Favortite vacation country of the Dutch is France. In masses we move over there each summer. Also Spain, Greece and Turkey are very popular.
Personally I prefer the Scandinavian countries, this year I'm going to Norway ! At this moment there is a project in Norway running which is called 'living and working' in which I 'm very interested. This project is meant for people of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Now it is not just because I live in Holland but Amsterdamis the nicest cityof them all. It is real cozy over here where almost everything is allowed, being gay is accepted nearly everywhere, except by a few assholes. I've visited several cities including Londen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Antwerp, Athens, Paris and a lot more but Amsterdam just got it all ! I feel the most at ease in my hown town.

Guess this is it for the moment. I found your brainstorming really clever, almost everything you guys said was true ! Oh yeah and the farmers over here do walk in wooden shoes ("klompen"), they even do grocery shopping in 'em.

Thanx guys ! and now up to tourism on................?
