I only got aware of them, because that particular song has been used as background music in a videoclip I got to watch. Otherwise I would have missed a really interesting Folk Punk band.

ALTER BRIDGE - Metalingus

Zitat

I’ve been defeated and brought down
Dropped to my knees when hope ran out
The time has come to change my ways

On this day
I see clearly
Everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we’ll leave it all
Leave it all behind

Did I mention I listen to A LOT of wrestler's entrance themes lately?

One hit wonders is on TV at the moment-
Nena- 99 Luftballons-- has this been made into a metal version, I think it would be a great cover,it has a great hook!

Not sure about a real metal version, but there's a punk version of the english song version (99 red balloons) from GOLDFINGER which had their biggest hit with that cover ;)

Nena btw isn't really a one hit wonder. She had a number of quite successful songs as I found out a few years ago when she made her come back here and re-recorded a lot of her greatest hits including "Anyplace, anywhere, anytime" ft. Kim Wilde (?).

I know/agree, she did pretty well over seas, but I think this countdown only takes into account American charts. And it does say that about this next band which is one of my all time favorite songs, and this would be an absolutely awesome metal/hardcorecover song !!!!!

Ah-ha- Take on me.

There is at least one cover version by a hardcore band: JAPANISCHE KAMPFHÖRSPIELE have 'Take on me' on "Transportbox für Menschen" (2000).

I have to admit though that I'm not sure whether it is just a 1:1 copy of the original song or really a hardcore interpretation of it.
