http://www.vday.org/main.htmlThat is what the Vagina Monologues promotes: It's violence awareness, basically.
The show also promotes the idea of women as sexual, sensual, AWESOME beings. Becasue we are, dammit! And in many countries, if a woman is remotely sexual in any way, the worst is automatically assumed about her. (except maybe in Europe, egads, I saw so many women wandering around who were comfortable with their bodies, and so many men appreciating all those women!)
Despite certain opinions, there is nothing pornographic about the show or the audition process. The only near pornographic thing I had to do was two different types of orgasm moans.
And Tex, in the book, The Vagina Monologues (it was a book first) women were asked questions like that. When I was filling out my audition forms I had to say what it would wear if it were a person. I said "red leather!" In the group audition we had to go around and say what an (insert emotion here) vagina might sound like. Some of the emotions named were: Bored, apathetic, happy, shy, horny, sad, angry, impatient...etc...The responses were great. :D
